Reed diffusers and how to maximise scent potential
Reed diffusers are a brilliant way to scent your space for longer whilst keeping a consistent aroma running throughout the home. To ensure you get the best scent throw possible, we’ve put together the following tips which all have a powerful impact on the overall performance of your reed diffuser.
Consider where you want to place your reed diffuser.
Movement, air and motion are important things to consider when you’re thinking about where to place your reed diffuser – when you’re walking by a reed diffuser, you’re helping to create an airflow of scent - so make sure to choose a room, hallway or space that gets a lot of movement. Positioning is important, too – if you place your reed diffuser too high up, keep in mind that the scent will have to slowly drift down.
Know how often to turn your reeds.
This one largely comes down to personal preference but if you’re looking to be greeted by the strongest aroma possible – use all the reeds provided with your reed diffuser and turn them at least once per week but ideally every 3-4 days. If you’re wanting to keep a milder scent running throughout the room – use less reeds and turn less often.
Avoid placing your diffuser by an open window.
This one may seem obvious but when air is constantly flowing in and out of the home, the oils will deplete much quicker and weaken the scent.
Give your vessel a gentle swirl.
If you feel the scent from your diffuser is dwindling, gently pick up your vessel and give it a small swirl. This helps bring out the scent from your diffuser to ensure all the oils in the recipe remain fully bonded together.
Dust off your diffuser regularly.
Depending on how long you’ve had your reed diffuser, you may find dust begins to build up on the reeds. Dust can interfere with the diffusion of oils, making them less effective. Regularly dusting off the reeds with a soft, dry cloth will help to ensure your reed diffuser can perform effectively.
The best thing about reed diffusers is they pretty much take care of themselves whilst adding a touch of elegance to your home!
